Hello! I’m Christina, the owner of Plum Polka Dot. I live just outside of Vancouver, BC with my husband and three children who are the light of my life and the inspiration behind my shop. Long before I decided to launch my own line of handcrafted accessories, known as Plum Polka Dot, I knew that I had a knack for all things creative and crafty. When I wasn’t working for a major Canadian retailer at both the store and corporate level, I was often found creating one-of-a-kind, handmade gifts for friends and family for Christmas, birthdays and other special occasions. In 2008, my husband and I welcomed our twin sons into the world and quickly became accustomed to life with two boisterous boys. But everything changed when our baby daughter, Julia, joined the family nearly five years later. I soon fell in love with outfitting our ‘little miss’ in beautiful garments and accessories, and was particular about sourcing locally produced, premium quality designs. Unsuccessful in my search, and armed with a decade of experience in customer service, purchasing and supply chain and project management — and a passion for crafting — I decided to launch my very own line of custom accessories and thus Plum Polka Dot was born. Over the years, Plum Polka Dot has grown and evolved into a focus on celebrating life's special moments through our collections of party favors and printable decor. It brings me so much joy to play a small role in such events!

Visual artist Colette Bernard (she/they) is creating colorful designs and art to wear. She was born and raised in Acadiana, the culturally rich region of south Louisiana. A common theme in her practice is her relationship with the internet, saturated color, fruits, collage, and her identity as a southern queer person. By combining a variety of both traditional and digital techniques, Bernard emphasizes merging the virtual and physical world. Bernard graduated in 2021 with a Bachelors in Fine Arts with a focus in Sculpture and Integrated Practices from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. She also creates easily digestible and accessible art related videos on TikTok, including segments such as "Artist of the Day", "Public Art Series", and "Art World Drama". Bernard gained a dedicated following from these videos, and has been featured in the New York Times and ArtNet News for her work.

PlatypusMax is an online shop selling handcrafted barrettes, jewelry and gift sets that are inspired by nature, sustainably made, and minimally packaged. All pieces are designed and created by artist / maker Rachel Summers. A reverence for nature and eco-friendly practices are central to my philosophy. That is, to keep the carbon footprint of everything I create as low as possible, with minimal trash output, non-toxic materials and nature-focused designs. This means that my core materials are sourced as either pre-consumer waste scraps or small off-cuts to maximize material use, ethical practices, and without the use of new plastic materials. Additionally, I will fund the planting of 1 tree for each item ordered via Ecologi / The Eden Reforestation Projects. Trees are one of the most tangible ways to help us fight climate change. Leather is one of my favorite materials, and I use it to make barrettes, earrings and other accessories. It is a wonderful natural, biodegradable material to work with as it holds impressions in a range of colors and textures. This allows me to create beautiful, functional pieces that capture natural impressions of various plants and other natural elements. I like to work with simple tools including handmade stamps, a hammer, a mechanical press, a sharp knife, rivets, dyes and paints. Embossed patterns are either hand-tooled or created by pressing plants or other natural textures and found objects into wet un-dyed leather.

Growing up on the East Coast, I developed a passion for the ocean, marine life, and water at a very young age. That passion inspired me to create a series of artworks and my first collection of scarves called "Floral Seas." This series of artworks was the genesis for my silk scarf collection and subsequently, the start of my 2nd career. I'm dedicated to preserving our oceans, keeping them clean, and protecting marine life from being decimated by pollution. My Floral Seas series of photo collages (art prints) serves as a metaphor for how fragile life can be and illustrates the beauty and vulnerability in our ecosystem. I took that series and transformed it into textiles. The flowers and water are metaphors for our vulnerable ecosystem. The flowers drift gently through the water, settling on the ocean floor without disruption—representing the quiet, often unnoticed changes in our environment. My scarves are Oeko-tex certified and printed in the finest eco-conscious mills in Italy. DiFiore New York donates to nonprofits preserving ocean life. We also donate to animal shelters here in NYC. Lexie Rundquist (Aerow) is a self-taught studio artist working predominately with copper and gemstones, specializing in electroformed jewelry. Rundquist is constantly working on her art form, refining her process and dreaming up ways to incorporate bigger stones into her jewelry. As of 2017, 90% of the metal used in her jewelry is sourced from recycled tubing, wire, or sheet metal. Her artwork has been exhibited regionally, and collected nationally. Some of her statement pieces were worn by Lily Tomlin in the Netflix show Grace & Frankie.
