Our authentic wool comes from hands of artistry that has been making genuine hand-made products for years in Nepal. The products have evolved from pieces of fine garments to works of art. Hand dyed silks sewn into one of a kind wearable art, Explore Designs by Emelia Prince Ruyle are made lovingly in Burlington, VT. Kimonos, scarves, dresses, bandanas, scrunchies, re-explored vintage silk pieces and more are some of the colorful creations you will find from Explore. Each piece is individually hand dyed, cut and sewn in studio by Emelia. Inspired by a passion for travel, nature, and color, Explore is made for those who value hand-crafted pieces while seeking comfort and versatility. Explore is focused on sustainability and making high-quality clothing to treasure for a lifetime. Pieces are made from 100% silk or a silk/wool blend, both natural fibers that are highly renewable. Each piece is hand-dyed in small dye baths, making sure the dye is used to its full potential before discarding. Cut and sewn in-house, there is minimal waste from production, leftover materials are kept to be re-used to make accessories, wall hangings, and wrapping. Dana Herbert lives in Portland, Oregon where she has been designing and manufacturing her line of women’s accessories since 1998. Her daughter, Hannah Price, works alongside her in the family business. Hannah and Dana design each piece of jewelry together to create a a cohesive collection of everyday pieces that pair well with the wide range of scarves they offer. The entire product line, including pouches, scarves, jewelry, cosmetic bags, and Sweet Dreams, are manufactured in Portland, Oregon.

We are small independent company that has been trading since 2001; during this time we have forged strong trading relationships with producer groups located in Nepal and India. Every item we sell is handcrafted by our talented artisans, using traditional weaving, knitting or wet felting techniques. We have small production runs to eliminate as much waste material, where possible we also recycle the materials into other products. Therefore reducing our impact to the environment as much as possible. We work with small family run businesses or fair trade cooperatives, that are creating secure employment in an area with little opportunity, especially for women. Every product purchased supports our artisans, enabling them to live independently with access to safe, discrimination free work with a fair rate of pay.

Every hard beginning has a happy ending if you put your mind to it. In my journey, moving to the United States, I soon realized that many people did not know much about Ecuador. So I was very excited to proudly show the world a bit of my small but diverse Ecuador. Over time a wonderful man came into my life who is now my boyfriend. A charming American who without much expectation stole my attention and heart. Little by little I showed him a bit of my culture, food and of course our artisans that he undoubtedly loves today. We are two women owning this small business and are curators of handmade textile collection, 7 Artisan Street! We are bonded first by the same cause of up-cycling and reducing waste, and second as sisters-in-law. While working in the corporate for 13 years, we got a chance to study waste and eco-friendly alternatives. It was during this time that we learnt about pre-consumer textile waste. It didn’t sit well with us and we knew we had to initiate change. It seemed almost natural for us to put our creative heads together and deal with the challenges of a start-up business. A year later, 7 Artisan Street was ready to raise awareness (even in small steps) about pre-consumer textile waste to reduce our carbon footprint. Socially Responsible: At 7Artisan Street, we have been actively involved in providing food, clothing, shoes, books and hygiene related items such as soaps etc. for a group of children that we have taken under our wing. It is our dream to see these children of the streets get, at a minimum, the basic necessities of life. To realize “our dream” for these children we have further decided to give a significant portion of our profits towards their needs and growth. Since 2003, Indigo Handloom has been supporting the weaving communities of rural India. Our goal is to create work with dignity for our weavers and all support industries. Most of the people we work with have a 4th grade education or less, the majority of them are women who work from their own homes - allowing them to care for their families as well as earn a living. With the help of our customers, we have a social project in the villages where we work that provides educational services and an improved water supply.
