Noted artist David Leight founded LeightWorks in 2004. David started his career after his formal training in 1999 from the Pilchuck Glass School founded by the world famous glass artist Dale Chilhuly in 1971. David was the youngest artist to attend the school. David began making sculptures and was commissioned to construct a 5-foot sculpture of the Google logo made of crystalline for the offices of co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page. David's work then transformed into jewelry when a girl at a farmers market asked to turn one of his sculptures into a pendant. It looked colorful, beautiful and original. Now in his 15th year, David still uses his original techniques in which each piece of fine optic glass and natural crystal is hand cut, polished and cold fused inside with precious metal to produce the iridescent glow of color within. All pieces are custom shaped to enhance the light and color. David’s wearable art glows and changes color depending on the amount of light around the piece, and even adapts to ones outfit. The colorful opalescence inside the glass is based in part on the technology NASA developed for the heat shield on the space shuttles.
