Java Momma was founded in 2017 by, Melissa Shoop. She wanted a company that gave opportunities to others, while doing the ethically and morally right thing. What started with a vision, a roaster in their home, the support of her husband, with family members and friends has turned into an ever-growing, opportunity driven small business! They continue to maintain their core values by supporting other small businesses, using recyclable, compostable, or made from recycled products whenever possible. Our coffee beans are ethically sourced and our energy-efficient air roasters are powered using renewable energy, with a 90kw solar array located on the roof of our building. Air roasting is something that helps set Java Momma apart from other coffee roasters. The process of air roasting consists of using a bed of hot air instead of being tumbled in a hot steel drum or barrel. This helps to ensure a more consistent taste because the hot air circulates evenly around the around the beans. It's also a cleaner process since the beans do not come in contact with the drum and we are able to separate the chaff from the beans, which can lead to a bitter tasting coffee if left. We believe that coffee is more than just a drink - it's a ritual that sets the tone for your day, giving you the energy and inspiration you need to tackle the world. It brings people together to share experiences, have lively conversations, or to just enjoy the company in silence while sipping on a freshly brewed cup.
