About Mainely Coffee

Hi, my name is Roger and my wife Sarah and I first discovered specialty coffee in Jamaica back in 1998. Since then we've worked hard to roast the best tasting coffees and teas while simultaneously promoting the beauty of Northern Maine. Nestled in the shadow of Mount Katahdin, we love where we live and what we do. Each coffee is chosen for its outstanding flavor and we air roast our coffee in small batches when your order is placed, not before. Each blend is named for a location of interest in Northern Maine. The majority of our teas are made with coffee fruit (aka cascara) which lends a natural sweetness and body to each blend. Coffee fruit is not only delicious but has more antioxidants than cranberries or blueberries. We began roasting just for ourselves after Roger's brother introduced us to it. He had purchased an expensive home roasting machine but, as we had young children at the time, we couldn't afford such a luxury. So instead we did what most folks here in Maine do, we took to YouTube. In short order we had ordered some beans and purchased a air popcorn popper at a thrift store for $1 and we were off. Over the next few years we refined our techniques and found new ways to get more control over our roasts and thus more flavor from the beans. In 2017 a business man in town asked why we didn't roast coffee as what we were producing in our popper was delicious. So we did, and we haven't regretted a moment since.Read their story
