When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, it shut our business down and we had to think creatively to find a way to survive. We went back to our roots of product innovation and customization. That's when the wood plate patch was born. Made with a variety of natural materials like various wood veneers, solid bendable birch wood, and customizable with etching, cutting, and inlaid copper, these patches are not only unique, but they are also extremely durable and often outlast the hat they are attached to. Katydid is the creation of Texas designer and entrepreneur Katy Messersmith. Katy’s journey into fashion began in 2002 when she was working at a clinic in Ghana as a volunteer. When Katy’s luggage went missing soon after her arrival, she saw it as an opportunity to get creative. Instead of heading to the closest store, Katy went to work collaborating with a few local seamstresses. Together, they created a collection of colorful wrap skirts and vibrant bags. Since 2002, Katydid has grown into a lifestyle brand of cute apparel, entertaining accessories, and trendy gifts. Katy’s sense of fashion and unstoppable work ethic has turned Katydid into an emerging leader in popular women’s apparel and accessories. Fame was born out of the desire to clothe and accessorize the world with the trendiest fashion accessories at an affordable price. We work hard to design locally themed customizable goods for you and your customers. You can pick out the different elements of your hats and tees to fit your customer's style. This includes, color, pattern, and even your own area code, and state shape. We will embellish each hat, to order. We have proudly been in business since 2005 and run the entire business out of our basement of our home in northeastern Wisconsin. We would love to make something for you and your customers. Many of our hat blanks are manufactured overseas, but we design, embellish, and embroider all items, ourselves, in our home. We are currently serving all 50 states in the US, so check out our shop and search for something we have designed for your state. We tend to design for our home state first, so check out our Wisconsin stuff. Most designs are quick to design for other states too. We love serving regions and nicknames as well. We have seen great success with items designs for the Finger Lakes in New York, the Adirondacks in NY, and the Pacific Northwest.
