Cook Flavoring Company was born of Raymond R. Lochhead’s lifelong dedication to vanilla. Where we began and where we are today are in many ways much the same. Our company has grown, but we remain fully family-owned and operated. We continue to use the same personal sourcing that Ray pioneered. We've updated Ray's lab with the latest technology to apply the power of aromatic chemistry to achieve superior flavor. We use the same slow, cold percolation that our grandfather developed when he started making pure vanilla extract in 1918. To this day, we’ve found no better approach to making the highest quality vanilla. Through 100 years of unimaginable change, our company has survived and flourished on one unchanging principle: quality. Family: Whether it's our generational commitment to quality and innovation, or our personal relationships with the farmers we source from, relationships are at the heart of what we do. Some things never change. Some things shouldn’t. Origin: Vanilla’s quality starts with the best beans. We work in person with farmers through village cooperatives so we can select fully sun-cured, vine-ripened pods ourselves Craft: Pure vanilla takes time and patience. That's why we sun-cure our beans the old way, and use our grandfather’s original extraction method. The result is a beautiful, complex vanilla that no lab can duplicate.
