Bored Cow is the first milk alternative that truly replaces dairy milk in look, feel, smell, taste, and function without the negative environmental and animal welfare impacts. It cooks, bakes, and froths like real dairy, because it is! It contains real milk protein made via precision fermentation. At the end of the process, we get an animal-free whey protein that is bio-identical to conventional whey. We then build a plant-based milk alternative around that, and fortify it with vitamins and minerals. Bored Cow animal-free dairy milk has 8g of sustainable milk protein per cup, and is an excellent source of calcium, vitamin D, and vitamin B12. We love dairy, but hate the impact it has on animals and the planet. So we set out to find a better way to make it – without factory farming, and with a fraction of the environmental footprint. Animal-free whey protein from fermentation generates up to 97% fewer greenhouse gas emissions, uses up to 99% less water, and requires up to 60% less nonrenewable energy to produce than conventional whey protein from cows. We believe the future of dairy is animal-free, and that cows everywhere deserve a break.
