The co-founders of Chicago Comb, John and Tedd, have been friends since the 7th grade. Growing up in the 1980s, we were keenly aware of how the closure of factories and the decline of manufacturing was affecting Chicago and the rest of the country. Over the years, in between other things, we would talk often about how great it would be to reverse that trend by bringing back great local manufacturing. Making products of a place, durable, and the antithesis of throw away products made cheaply and poorly. From those early discussions, the idea for a beautiful, premium hair comb was born. There was nothing like it on the market. Inspired by what we saw, we decided then to make the most amazing hair combs possible, combs that people LOVE. We believe that an everyday object, like a comb, should be an enduring work of sculpture and design that not only looks stunning, but helps people enjoy the daily ritual of grooming, From those early beginnings, we expanded our lineup to include the the only American-made carbon fiber combs and leather sheaths (cases for combs) made of premium Horween leather (made at Chicago's famous Horween tannery since 1905).
