When I moved to Los Angeles in my adult years, I began to yearn for the distinctive character of my old home and upbringing. My goal is to provide high-quality Turkish textiles that are sourced fairly from trusted craftsmen at affordable prices. I buy from places and people I know and respect; therefore, all my suppliers are individuals that I have met personally in Turkey and are all masters of their craft. One of the biggest draws of Peshtemals a.k.a Turkish towels in interior design is their versatility. In home decor, styling, staging, these pieces are the accent that can tie a room together and effectively elevate a space. We aim to serve those who seek to invest in sustainability. Ever since its founding, our shop has partnered directly with the Anatolian artists and manufacturers of the products in what is now central Turkey. The possibility of sharing them with you, showing the piece of the antique Aegean culture is the main reason we started Kalkedon Towels. Our towels come from a little town in Western part of Turkey. We are so happy to work with people from a small community. We believe, people around us, are the most important and we should care about each other. Our peshtemals/ Turkish towels are lightweight and portable which makes them quite proper in a beach, travel but also thicker than many others which makes them perfect fit as a shawl or throw blanket for chilly nights. Our plush/oversized bath towels are weaved withTurkish cotton ring spun yarns on traditional jacquard looms. Therefore, it is long-lasting and not easily deformed. The towels are dyed with organic and traditional dyeing techniques.
