Thimble Rose was founded during the global pandemic in Aug 2020. My name is Ying, and here you can find out a little more about my small business journey. Being a keyworker, I found myself fortunate enough to still have had a routine and that I could support the local community and colleagues through my work. However, as I am sure many of you can relate to, our social lives stopped and it was no longer possible to see those who are nearest and dearest to us. This I found very challenging and needed an outlet which would help me focus and pass my free time. I had started with beaded bracelets with the long term goal to create my own demi-fine gemstone jewellery brand and in January 2021 you could say I took the plunge, and now here I am! I have always loved and been obsessed with jewellery. To me, special pieces all have a story and jewellery in itself has so many purposes. Thimble Rose is a passion project. Since I graduated I have been in the same job for the last 10 years. I have loved every moment, including all the challenges, everything that I have learnt and who I have become. However, there was a part of me that felt a little bit unfulfilled, a side of me that felt "unknown" and that is how Thimble Rose was born. Now, here I am today, making mistakes, celebrating successes, but most importantly discovering more of my "unknown"! It is easy to give up, but if you have ever felt that you wanted to try something new, do it, start today and don't give up!

Hey I'm Shany, I always knew I wanted to create since a young age. I used to spend hours drawing on everything possible, even the house walls. I was born in Israel, but has been a citizen of the world since I could. After finishing my studies in visual communication (here is where all the graphic inspiration came from) I travelled the world, India, Thailand, Japan, USA, Argentina, Costa Rica and even worked in China for a big fashion accessories company. Then I moved to Switzerland, following a love story, but optimism turned quickly to frustration, as the language barrier meant I couldn’t find work. As you know every success story starts out as a hobby. I didn’t give up just yet on my love for creating beautiful things, and started playing with materials and make jewellery for myself and friends. In 2014 I married the love of my life, moved to the UK and opened my Etsy shop (big year). Ever since then my business has grown gradually, adding more and more unique designs to my collections. My inspiration comes from everything around me. My unique aesthetic reflects my own transatlantic experience, the surrounding nature, the beloved sea, sunbursts, my passion for animals, music, science, the city of Oxford, bohemian lifestyle and most importantly people . My design philosophy is focused on graphic playful surprises that will speak to my customers and let them express their own stories.

Lucky Feather started in founder Jill Schiff's home in Los Angeles in 2006 when she was looking for a gift to lift a friend's spirits but couldn't find exactly what she was looking for. So she started designing and packaging and created a company with a simple, lovely goal: to spread good energy and inspiration by offering trend-setting, affordable gifts and jewelry for any occasion.

Amano Studio is a small, woman owned jewelry brand and zero waste production studio based in Sonoma California. Founder and designer, Seana Pedelaborde, is a 25 year veteran of the fashion and gift market. Amano Studio is an affordable line of fashion jewelry with an emphasis on quality materials, on-trend design and five star customer service. Amano Studio designs are mostly made in the USA with domestically produced and imported parts. We partner with a handful of old New England workshops that give us access to archives of 70+ years of molds and tooling which allows us to resuscitate genuine vintage design as those designs cycle back into fashion. This is one of the most fun and interesting parts of our work! We also salvage "dead stock" vintage from East Coast factories that have closed. Named after Joanne’s mom, who had an impeccable eye for style, Splendid Iris offers timeless pieces to elevate any look. Joanne and Jamie envisioned a brand that blended their individual styles. Jamie, a busy mom of four, enjoys simple and delicate accents to fit her casual style while Joanne prefers bolder, dressier pieces to take her from day to night. In 2001, Sonja Swenson designed and fashioned her first handmade necklace. This moment signaled the beginning of her passion for jewelry-making and skill sharing. From that moment, she learned that creating designs and seeing them come to life was a true passion that could be shared. Soon after, she opened a bead store where she began teaching classes. She didn’t want to just make pieces to sell - Sonja wanted to boldly empower others to create and share their art. She wanted to give those around her a means to fashion beautiful pieces, generate income, and develop strength through purposeful relationships. Nearly ten years later, Sonja was in the process of restructuring her current bead and clothing store when she found herself with excess product. But rather than throw away the perfectly good beads, she sought out a way to repurpose. This deliberate search led her to Haiti. Sonja and her daughter Shelbi ventured to the Caribbean country just two short years after it was devastated by an earthquake that ravaged the country and left millions jobless.
