I started Mirkwood Scribes by making bookmarks as party favors to match custom invitations but found I liked creating around literary themes much more than party themes. I had some great back and forth with customers, found a great community over on #bookstagram, and seem to never run out of ideas for new bookmarks. I love the energy and excitement I get from other book-nerds (where were you people when I was in high school?!) and the most fun is sharing a favorite book with a new friend! I design, print, and trim each bookmark in my home studio in Southeast Missouri. It is appropriately decorated with a full wall of bookshelves (#bookstagram made me buy so many books!) and a fireplace mantle covered with Harry Potter books and merch. There is usually a cat under my desk, and after school, my 12-year-old is in here playing video games and telling me all about life in 7th grade. My office is one of my favorite places to be. I want anyone who buys from me to be absolutely DELIGHTED when they get their order. I always want someone to think "this is better than I thought it would be!" and to be able to use something as small as a bookmark to create that cozy moment that they want. Over 5,500 people have come back to leave a 5-star review after finding the perfect bookmark and being thrilled with their purchase. ♥

Savannah is a full time teacher who wanted to share her love of teaching with others. Teaching and helping people is her main passion, but she wanted to share it with others. She first started off selling teacher related and motivational stickers, but she wanted to branch out to share other things that she loved. Her main goal is to spread positivity and happiness to her customers. If her products can help to brighten up someone else's day, then she feels like she has completed her goal.

Bookish Heaux started in 2021 with a Tiktok video. Now we focus on creating aesthetic bookmarks for those who like to stay ahead of the trends.

Emily Cromwell is an illustrator and designer based in Sutton, Massachusetts. She loves to design happy and whimsical bookish designs that are sure to bring a smile to your face! Every product first starts off with illustration and hand lettering and is then brought to life on super cute items that get shipped from right here in her Sutton, MA home studio.

Bob and Jeanette Williams invented Book Darts in the basement of their Hood River, Oregon home to help Bob’s high school students with their English studies. They wanted to provide students with a tool that allowed eager readers to read more deeply, to allow them to share their discoveries, and to have quick and easy access to the ideas that inspired them (Book Darts do all this and more, all without marking the page or hurting the book!) As a teacher, Bob developed this book-safe tool as a means to insure that students could save anything in any book they wanted or needed to return to. Jeanette named these little inventions “Book Darts” and suggested the elegant amphora shape. Fellow teachers and parents took notice and began asking for these “Darts” to give as holiday gifts, and from there we grew. Soon, Bob left teaching entirely and the couple traveled the United States and Canada, visiting more than 2,500 bookstores, galleries, and gift shops to promote this new tool for better reading and deeper thinking.

Introducing elastic bookmark jewelry! Book Art Bookmarks was created in 2017 by Margaux. Being an avid reader, the business was born when she was unable to find a bookmark that would stay in her book. Margaux was inspired by a notebook with an elastic band. Visiting her local craft store and creating the first ever Artmark, she was encouraged by fellow readers in the community to start an Etsy. Two years later, Book Art Bookmarks has handmade over 10,000 Artmarks for wholesale, monthly subscription boxes, BookCon 2019, and on our retail website. Margaux, her husband, two small children, and their family dog live in Wisconsin where they love to explore the beautiful outdoors. Margaux contributes her love for reading and starting her business to her wonderful teachers of Montessori. Without their love and support she would have never developed the skills and love to be a part of the wonderful reading community. Margaux continues to create and evolve her Artmarks along with new products to be featured in 2020.

I am a self-taught artist and creator, finding inspiration from the beings that go bump in the night, lurk in the shadows, and live on the dark side of the moon. I take pride in the fact that I am the first to create clear, laminated bookmarks that are not made from acrylic or resin.
