Inspired by a fisherman in the family, we made our first three-strand, hand-spliced and whipped rope leash for our rescue pups back in 2006. So many people stopped us in the street to admire our unique nautical leads that we decided to share them with others. Our founders met on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn while walking their two rescue pups, both of whom were named Walter. The Walters were sizing each other up, and their people started a conversation that quickly revealed their passion for animal welfare. They decided to become partners after discovering they had more in common than two rescue dogs with the same name. They had both attended great design schools—Cooper Union and Rhode Island School of Design—and were passionate about animals, animal welfare and a love of the principles of good design. Unique to each one our leashes is a simple, numbered brass tag that reads “FOUND”. A simple message that reflects the company mission to promote animal adoption in a very direct way, by letting your pet wear your values. Part of the proceeds from our sales go to support animal welfare and rescue organizations with a whole section of the website dedicated to helping facilitate direct pet adoptions. Hi! We are Ben and Wendy Gasca, owners of Dog Collar World. We just wanted to take a minute to introduce ourselves. Our company was founded in 1999 by my mother as a hobby business. Although we are still family owned, we have grown tremendously over the years. We offer handmade dog (and cat) collars, dog scarves, leashes, bow ties, and collar flowers. Dog collars are our best sellers, followed by bow ties. Some of our fabric patterns are part of the “Classic” line and are available every year, while some patterns are “Limited Edition” and will only be available seasonally. Our dog collars and scarves are perfect for embroidery. Many wholesale customers provide this service themselves, but we also offer this service as an option for our wholesale customers.

As any dog would empathize, Barley just wanted to go everywhere his humans would. To ride alongside, to run along with, and to simply be present with, as long as pup-ingly possible. The origin of the Mighty Paw brand came by way of heeding Barley’s yearning, and with the aid of a pair of opposable thumbs and some ingenuity, Barley and Corey began designing pup-worthy products with a vision in mind, “to ease the ability to accompany my human anywhere, all the time.” Who are we now?
