Julian was born in Northern Ireland in 1956. Julian developed a passion for wildlife, conservation, and painting from an early age. His love of nature and creativity were influenced and encouraged by his father, a talented wood sculptor and academician at the Royal Ulster Academy of Arts. Since his first solo exhibition in his hometown of Bangor in 1977, he quickly became established on the international stage as one of the leading wildlife artists worldwide. He has exhibited extensively in Ireland, the UK, Europe, Saudi Arabia, and the USA, including exhibitions at the Smithsonian Institute, Washington, and the Natural History Museums in London and Bonn. Julian was elected President of the Royal Ulster Academy of Arts in 2009, a position he held for three years. While Julian has painted species from all over the world, it is his series of British and Irish wildlife artworks have been masterfully recreated for this range of homeware, kitchenware, and stationery products. Fine art prints of Julian’s work are also available. Julian now lives on the North Antrim coast, where the stunning landscape and wildlife continue to inspire his works.
