We built Faire with the goal of helping entrepreneurs everywhere chase their dreams. Over the past four years, we’ve loved watching the Faire community connect and thrive in the U.S. and Canada. Now, we’re excited to grow this community across Europe and empower local retail around the world.
How we got to Europe
In 2019, we kicked off international expansion by opening the Faire marketplace to Canadian retailers. We were thrilled by the reception, so we built tools to help brands maximize their success in international markets. We updated the Faire experience to support product pricing and order minimums in multiple currencies. We also support tariff codes, which our system predicts based on the category of a product. Plus, we updated our Ship with Faire feature to support international shipping.
Now, after extensive research into European markets, we’re excited to offer Faire brands the opportunity to connect with thousands more independent retailers. The U.K. and European Union, home to over 500 million people, are among the largest economies in the world. Faire’s expansion into these markets will enable our brands to share their products and grow their businesses globally.
How our expansion will work
Europe is full of interconnected countries that exchange products and ideas every day. We’re excited to enable Faire brands and retailers to connect across these borders. We’re already live in the U.K., and we plan to expand to multiple European markets—including the Netherlands, France, and more—in the coming months.
Whenever we launch in a new country, we’ll start with a pilot program. This means that we’ll iterate on the Faire experience as we learn what works well for our customers. Throughout this process, we welcome feedback about how we can improve your experience.
What to know as a brand
We know that for brands, selling in new countries may seem daunting. Our aim is to make selling in Europe as seamless and successful as possible. Here are some of the steps we’re taking to help set you up:
- For a limited time, we’re funding free shipping to European retailers. This will encourage retailers to order from new brands without having to worry about shipping costs, which means you can build new relationships more easily.
- For U.S. brands, we’re handling shipping logistics through Ship with Faire. We’ll automatically create a shipping label and all of the required forms for customs. We hope this small step makes selling to European retailers even easier.
- We’ve built a new support guide for selling internationally. From VAT tax, to tariffs, to import regulations, we’ve curated comprehensive guides to answer your most pressing questions about selling in new markets.
- We’ve launched a new European Union toggle in your Shop Settings. Here, you can set European-specific pricing and order minimums. Please note that you’ll need to adjust your settings for all of Europe, rather than individual countries in the E.U.
Stay tuned for more about selling in new European markets, and let us know if there are topics you’d like us to cover in our international selling guides.
Let us know what you think
We aim to be a partner as your brand grows in new markets. We’ve launched a form where you can leave feedback about your international selling experience, or you can reach us via support@faire.com. If you’re not ready to sell in Europe at this time, you can simply opt out.
We’re excited for you to join us on our mission to make the future local—wherever “local” may be to you.
