With fall well underway, retailers are turning their attention to winter and holiday shopping. On the Faire marketplace, searches for “holiday” have hit their highest of the year globally, and “Christmas” has been one of the top two most popular search terms each of the past five weeks.
With the help of global search and buying data from the Faire marketplace, we’ve rounded up some suggestions for your winter 2022/2023 buying. While holiday decor and seasonal items are always in demand this time of year, we’ve also compiled suggestions for trends that will keep your customers satisfied even after the holidays have passed. By curating a collection of gifts that will still be in demand in January and beyond, you’ll be sure to get the most out of your inventory this winter
1. All things warm and cozy
As the temperatures begin to drop and the days get shorter, consumers are looking toward all things comfortable to keep cozy this winter. Satin pillowcases—like those from KITSCH and Pineapple Beauty—have been among the top products on Faire for four of the past five weeks. Sales of socks are also on the rise, with brands like Le Bon Shoppe and ELMNTL among the most popular products in the past two weeks.
Other popular relaxation products include throw blankets and robes, with searches for “blankets” up 30% since mid-August. Stock up on these items from brands like House of Jude, Breathe, Pavila, and Verve Culture.
Finally, searches for “slippers” are at their highest of the year since January, and three of the ten most popular products in the women’s footwear category in recent weeks have been slippers. Brands like Pretty Simple, shiraleah, and No Doubt Shoes offer many variations on the plush footwear.
2. Game day apparel, shackets, and other winter fashion trends
Game day apparel—like tees and hoodies with a favorite team’s logo—is always popular when football season returns, and this year is no exception. “Game day” has been a popular search term on Faire for over a month and has grown nearly 4x since September 2021. Stock up on football-themed fashion from brands like LivyLu and CHARLIE SOUTHERN.
During our recent apparel and footwear preorder event, Faire Fashion Week, “shacket”—like those from UNISHE, Urban Daizy, and Vanilla Monkey—was one of the most searched terms. In addition, three of the top ten most popular products during the event were shackets, and searches for the term have grown almost 50% since mid-August.
Earlier this year, global forecasting agency WGSN predicted that knitwear would be a popular trend for winter 2022, noting that consumers will continue to gravitate towards “fair isle” knits as the pattern becomes more prevalent. This prediction has come to fruition on Faire—searches for “knit” and “sweaters,” like those from The Knotty Ones and Promesa USA, have nearly doubled since mid-August.

3. Not your typical mugs
In the past few weeks on Faire, unique mugs—like handmade mugs from Clay in Motion and glass mugs from Talking Out of Turn—have been some of the most popular products in the kitchen and tabletop category. Searches for “mug” are also at their highest since January and have been rapidly climbing since July.
In addition, “pottery” has been a trending term on Faire in recent weeks, and drinkware has been one of the top five most popular categories on Faire every week for the past five weeks. Offer your customers something one-of-a-kind with mugs from brands like Dock 6 Pottery, Mug Love, Prodigal Pottery, and Doe a Deer.
4. Entertaining essentials
Elsewhere in the kitchen and tabletop category, products related to hosting have been increasingly popular. As consumers begin to gather together to celebrate the festive season and new year, products like tablecloths, cocktail napkins, and tabletop decor are growing in popularity.
According to Etsy, entertaining at home will be a major trend for the upcoming holiday season, with a 101% year-over-year increase in Etsy searches containing “table napkin.” On Faire, “cocktail napkins”—like those from rockflowerpaper and ATELIER SAUCIER—have been a trending search in the past few weeks, and impressive serving boards like those from Lynn & Liana Designs and Tuckahoe Hardwoods have been among the most popular items in the kitchen and tabletop category.
Set your table apart with cloth napkins, holiday dinner settings, linen tablecloths, wine glass sets, and more products for hosting from Talking Tables, Hearth and Harrow, Scents and Feel, and Park Designs. Or, browse our gift guide For the Host for more inspiration.
5. Baking kits, cookies, and chocolate
It wouldn’t be winter without the warmth of baked goods, and sales of cookie mixes and other desserts, like those from Miss Jones Baking Co. and The Bottled Baking Co., are on the rise. In recent weeks, four of the top ten most popular products in the baking category have been DIY baking kits, like Cinnamon Swirl Bread from Soberdough and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Beer Bread Mix from molly&you.
Finally, while shelves filled with Halloween candy for the fall, consumers are now favoring holiday treats like chocolate candy bars, hot chocolate on a stick, and white chocolate peppermint bark. Satisfy your customers’ sweet tooth with brands like Hammond’s Candies, Ticket Chocolate, and Dick Taylor Craft Chocolate.
6. Ornaments and holiday decor
As the festive season nears, consumers are setting their sights on holiday decor, from tree ornaments to table decor.
In fact, searches for “Christmas decor” have grown almost 50% since mid-August, and searches for “holiday decor” are close behind, growing about 40% since mid-August. On Faire, sales of festive decorations, like those from Evergreen Enterprises, Merri Glow, Silver Tree Home and Holiday, and Design Imports are on the rise.
In addition, ornaments and decorative objects have been in the top 10 most popular product categories for over a month now. Finally, ornaments—like those from Ornaments for Orphans, Silk Road Bazaar, and Light + Paper—have been a trending search for the past five weeks on Faire.
